Breath of Fire (Agni Pran / Kapalabhati
Breath of Fire is considered one of the most powerful and purifying pranayamas. It’s a rhythmic, continuous breathing through the nose, with equal emphasis on the inhale and exhale, powered by a gentle pumping of the navel point.

Especially in spring, when the Kapha energy (earth and water) can cause sluggishness, allergies, and stagnation, practicing Breath of Fire helps awaken and energise the body. It stimulates digestion, clears toxins from the lungs and blood, strengthens the nervous system, and awakens the inner fire (Agni) necessary for transformation and renewal.

Just a few minutes each morning can clear away lethargy, boost your vitality, and help align your energy with the vibrant rebirth of the season.

Always begin slowly if you’re new to Breath of Fire, and avoid it if pregnant or on your first days of menstruation.

How to Practice Breath of Fire in Kundalini Yoga:

Sit comfortably with a straight spine, shoulders relaxed.

Slightly tuck the chin down (neck lock / Jalandhara Bandh).

Begin by inhaling and exhaling rapidly through the nose.

Focus on pumping the navel point (belly button) inward toward the spine with each exhale; the inhale comes naturally.

Keep the rhythm steady and even — like the gentle pumping of a bellows.

Breathe powerfully but without strain; your chest stays relaxed.

Start slowly if you are new — 1 minute is a good start — and gradually increase up to 3 minutes or longer with practice.
